This glossary serves as a living reference designed to provide clear definitions and explanations for the key terms, concepts, and entities within the world of Holdara. As the story, mechanics, and understanding of this universe evolve, so too will this glossary. Contributions, refinements, and expansions are always welcome to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and comprehensive. Whether you're a newcomer seeking clarity or a veteran revisiting the details, this glossary is here to guide you through the rich tapestry of Holdara.

Bridge of Light: Walkway connecting Lighthaven to the mainland.

Celestial Tower: Located at the centre of the Holdara gameworld, the remains of one of the two mighty towers that powered the Lightstar. The other tower is now within the Nanovoid and so known only in legend (the Tower of Daimons).

Celestials: Forerunner race who created Holdara and the Holdarans themselves.

Dark Particles: Part of the “exotic matter” isolated in ill-fated experiments by the Celestials.

Darkstar: A super-massive galactic core black hole. The power source for Holdara itself used to rip a hole in the fabric of space time called a Lightstar.

Elemental climates: In regions a mix of two adjacent elements.

Elemental enemies: Can be multi-component with differing alignments.

Elemental Gems: Crystals that can be used to generate elemental effects, usually in conjunction with Glowstones.

Elemental influence: From creatures/items spending time in a particular climate.

Elemental weapons/armour: With pure alignments.

The Elements: Elemental effects caused by Celestial machinery. The 4 elements are: Pyro - hot, Aqua - cold, Spark - electricity/life and Blight - poison/decay. Each element has its own associated colour (yellow - fire, blue - ice, red - blight, green - energy/life).

Glowstones: Source of magical energy. Formed by the Nanovoid compacting captured Light found within Shadow Wraiths. General source of power and energy like magical batteries.

Hard Light: Solid forms of elemental light energy formed from the power generated from Glowstones tuned by Elemental Gems.

Heliolith: The name for the “exotic materials” that coat the entire inner surface of Holdara.

Hexalith: The Celestial built superstructure of Holdara itself.

Holsh: Mixture of Light and Dark particles that forms a crust on Spires; released when they are fully charged. Needed for most powerful magic such as creating Immortals or indestructible Legendary Items (LEGIs).

Holdara: Artificial world created by the Celestials to open a Lightstar to another dimension. Purpose was to mine "exotic material" that could be used to enhance their civilisation’s capabilities.

Immortals: Holdarans from the 3rd Era who have combined their Soul Stones with Holsh. They can regenerate when destroyed back at their Soul Stone.

The Guardians: The 8 Celestial scientists left to run Holdara. Killed by dark particles released by their experiments in an event called The Forsaking. Revered by most Holdarans as gods.

Lighthaven: Starting location for all new Immortals. An ancient facility at the foot of the Celestial Tower. Contains a location that allows Holsh to be used to create Immortals from Soul Stones. No Shadow Wraiths can survive in Lighthaven. It is safe, but a limited space with limited natural resources.

Lightstar: Gateway to another dimension. Drew through "exotic material" and hard light; this included the “dark particles” of the Nanovoid.

The Nanovoid: A hive mind of dark particles animated by the corrupted lifeforce of absorbed Celestials.

The Otherworld: The Holdaran term for the mysterious world they encounter underground (within the superstructure of Holdara). Holdarans assume this is the place the Nanovoid originates from.

Shadow Wraiths: Corrupted recreations of alien flora and fauna generated by the Nanovoid. The Nanovoid forms Glowstones that it uses to animate these entities.

The Simulacra: The corrupted Wraith forms of the Celestial Guardians that can be brought into being by the Nanovoid to infiltrate and control Celestial facilities.

Soul Stones: One per Immortal; regenerates character on death. Corporeal remains (like bones) of a dead Holdaran in Lighthaven can combine newly found Stones with Holsh to bring back Holdarans. The reason all new players/characters start in Lighthaven. The older the stone, the more resources needed to bring the Holdaran back.

Spires: Light/power generators for settlements that hold back the Nanovoid. Celestial Tower is the source of this Light. Spires are like a power grid for the Celestial Tower. Need constant maintenance with Glowstones to remain operable.
