Gameplay Overview

Holdara sets a genre-defining new standard in online multiplayer gaming where the entire player community unites in a singular, overarching battle to retake, rebuild, and protect the Infinite Realm, creating a virtual nation with an evolving narrative shaped by every player's actions.

Decades have passed since Holdara fell to the Nanovoid, its once proud settlements reduced to ruin by the coming of the Shadow Wraiths. Now the Pioneers, the vanguard of the Holdrans, have chosen to retake their land, leaving the safety of the last remaining beacon of light, the indestructible Celestial Tower.

Players will take the role of one of these adventurers and join the community-wide quest to reclaim the Infinite Realm and bring light and life back to the land of Holdara!

The Infinite Realm

Holdara is a dynamic living gameworld which is infinite, persistent, and sustainable:

  • Infinite – The world map will be generated as players explore, and grow with the player base.

  • Persistent - All players will share and experience the same world, one that persists and changes according to their actions.

  • Sustainable - As new players arrive, and old players leave, the world will continue to function and make sense and provide a fun, deeply engaging and compelling user experience.

Community Empowerment

Everything in Holdara is owned and controlled by the players themselves:

  • No Holdaran NPCs - every Holdaran you encounter is a player character, so every traditional RPG role is controlled and filled by players.

  • Settlement control - players decide what buildings exist, what services they offer, and the prices they charge.

  • Character ownership - players own their characters and can sell, hire out or give them away at any time.

  • Player run economy - players trade with each other (there are no NPC Holdarans) allowing the community to decide the value of the gameworld goods and services.

  • Asset ownership - players own their game world digital assets and are free to trade or give them away just like any real-world object.

  • IP ownership - there is no point owning digital assets if the game IP can be taken away, so we will be giving a license to the community in perpetuity.

  • Safe trading – players can safely trade their game assets with one another without resorting to using unsafe grey markets and gold farmers.

  • Gameworld governance – players have a voice in the development of the gameworld via automatic membership of the game world DAO.

  • Decentralisation – we have a long term plan to developing DWS (Decentralised Web Services) to allow the player community to host and run game servers and services.
